Sustainable innovation from 18,500 employees

The challenge

Equip global teams to generate and build game-changing innovations in response to four sustainability ambition areas.

What we did

Working with the global sustainability team, we developed, and helped to launch and run “The Good Challenge”, Pernod Ricard’s first employee-led innovation programme.

  • Comprehensive online toolkit for global teams to set up and run the challenge.

  • Ideation toolkit for employees, with little experience in innovation, to run brainstorms and develop exciting, game-changing ideas.

  • Selection criteria for employee voting and final judging by the board – focusing on sustainability impact and business value.

  • A series of animations to bring the finalists’ ideas to life.

  • Coaching for the teams ahead of presenting to the Executive Board in the final.

Outcomes

  • Employee participation - employees submitted over 700 ideas.

  • High levels of engagement - over 1,000 employees voted to choose the final five.

  • A winning idea with major impact – an innovative financial mechanism to enable carbon capture and storage at Absolut Vodka’s distillery in Sweden.
